| The history of Baseball starts with a French writing peice from 1344 contains an illustration of people playing a game that is very similar to the baseball we all know and love today. The first time an American played baseball was in 1791, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The sport was then banned from the town by law. By the early 1830s, there were reports of a bat-and-ball game. It resembled baseball and was being played all around North America. These games were often referred to as "town ball", though other names such as "round-ball" and "base-ball" were also used. In the 1850's, everybody loved baseball in New York .By 1856, local journals were referring to baseball as the "national pastime" or "national game". It took off from there. The first leage was made in 1863. More teams were made and Negro leages were made. Now baseball is Americas favorite sport and this is the history of it. |
